Bank Robber or crazy astrophotographer?? I took this shot of myself on the longest night of the year: December 21, 2001. I was on the 15/24 plan that night. 15 hours in 24 degree weather. I did actually make it from 4pm to 7am. It was unfortunate that I forgot my good boots and had to wear tennishoes! It was damn cold! When I packed up all my equipment at 7am, my tripod was frozen to the ground! I learned a valuable lesson: If you forget your warm boots, stay home! And as my good friend Steve Banbury would say " Drink Wine!!!" My left foot was numb for 4 days after that expedition.

But........... The results of that evenings less than intelligent behavior can be seen here: M81 , NGC1977 . I think it was well worth it, although admittaly, I might be the only one!
