M-33 also known as "The Pinwheel Galaxy" is a class Sc Spiral with a magnitude of around 5.7 in the fall constellation Triangulum. It's relatively bright magnitude is deceiving because of its (Astronomically speaking) close proximity to Earth of only 3 million Light Years and its lack of overall surface brightness and lack of a bright central core. With a diameter of about 50,000 Light Years and a mass of approximately 25 billion solar masses it's not considered to be a large galaxy by any meens. Compare that with our own Milky Way galaxy's diameter of an estimated 100,000 Light Years and approximately 750 billion solar masses. Visible in this photo are several Emission Nebula within the Galactic structure that show up on long exposure astrographs as pink/red knots. The 2 most prominent in this photo are NGC604 at about the 2 O'clock position on one of the outer spiral arms and NGC595 located at the 6 O'clock position and closer to the central star mass.
